Tanjung Layar is a Geoheritage located in Sawarna Village, Bayah
District, Lebak Regency, Banten.
Rock Formation:
The rocks at this location consist of interbedded sandstone and shale
with parallel sedimentary structures such as laminations, slumps,
convolute structures, flame structures, and load casts. The rocks at
this location have a direction and dip of N980E/460. At the top of
the sandstone and shale interbedding, breccias with a variety of
components including pebbles to cobbles are deposited. These rocks
belong to the Sandstone Member of the Cimapag Formation.
Geological Structure:
The rocks at this location have undergone a sinistral normal fault
structure with a direction and dip of N2170E/690 and a pitch of 180.
Landscape:
A white sandy beach with two rock outcrops forms a screen-like shape
resembling a ship's sail as a result of sea erosion.
